How do you style your TALULAH Summer pieces? 
Most of my TALULAH pieces are so colourful I pretty much always wear them with neutral or black heels and add a splash of gold or rose gold accessories. I am loving wearing my TALULAH dresses with my hair in a sleek pony tail or a messy braid, up styles keep you cooler and look summery. I take my powder blue Prada bag everywhere with me and it looks great with all my TALULAH pieces.

Who is your style icon?   

Olivia Palermo, she ALWAYS gets it right!

Must have TALULAH pieces of the season? 

My Dare to Dream dress is my absolute FAV. The yellow and black print is striking and looks great with a tan. The cut is very flattering, it’s stylish and you can wear it with heels or flats.

2014 Wardrobe Resolutions?  

To experiment more with colour, I was falling into a pattern of wearing lots of black last year. This year I’m going to invest in lots of colour and print!

Favourite trend for summer?   

Wearing a colourful skirt with ankle boots and a white basic tee.

Your summer handbag essentials? 

Model Co Lip plumping lip gloss, Dermalogica 50+ sunscreen, my blue lens sunnies and a head scarf to tie my hair up if it gets too hot!

Favourite summer tunes you are listening to right now?

I love Alt-J my favourite song would have to be  ‘Tessellate’. I also love Flume & Chet Fakers song ‘Drop the Game’. Oh and everything by Lorde.

Favourite summer holiday destination?  

Bali or Spain…. Anywhere warm!

Beauty brand must have? 

Bondi Sands Tanning Mousse, It is simply THE best colour.

Who inspires you? 

My mum and my friends. Other bloggers and also many of the creative geniuses I am lucky enough to work with, they really believe in what they do and don’t mind pushing boundaries.

What advice would you give to aspiring bloggers? 

Be unique, put your own unique touch on everything you do, there are so many bloggers out there now you need to find a point of difference that makes you stand out.

How did you break into the industry? 

I‘ve been a Hair and Make-up Artist in the fashion industry for a long time, I started posting pictures of jobs I had worked on and what looks and products I had used, along with tips and pointers of how to recreate each look. I guess being a hair and make-up artist gives me extra credibility when talking about beauty products. With a lot of hard work at building not only the blogs profile but also my own and collaborating with some great people and brands Oz Beauty Expert has become one of Australia’s most well renowned beauty and well being websites.

I cannot leave the house without…. Lip balm, there is nothing worse than shriveled dry lips!

I love to eat….. anything healthy and fresh.

I love to drink… wine but am currently detoxing until Feb…. :-(

On weekends you will find me…… At the beach with my family

ALLY'S SUMMER STYLING SECRETS

 

 

 

When styling my rule has always been to keep it simple and let the garment speak for itself, enhanced by one standout accessory such as a bold shoe, bright bag, detailed jewellery piece or a pop colour on the lip.

Here are 4 trends I just can't get enough of this summer and how to style them:

MONOCHROME

Monochrome has always been one of my favourites it's clean and simple and there are endless exciting ways to wear this classic trend. I adore the monochrome mixed print maxi and skater mini dress from the ISLA Cruise 13 collection. When styling these pieces I paired back with similar tone accessories such as a detailed black heel and solid necklace with a subtle pop of colour on the lips.

 FLORAL

I love prints! Especially a bold floral like the stunning ISLA Hillside Glow Playsuit featured. My three ways of wearing this trend are: head-to-toe for a bold fashion forward look, clashing with stripes or keeping it simple by pairing with a solid colour. Be sure to pair your floral print with a contrast vibrant lip, such as my favourite Party Proof Model Co Lipstick.

WHITE WHITE WHITE

White is the colour of the season! I wear it more than black now. It's super fresh and goes with everything. It's all about wearing white head to toe- white on white on white. Add in some fine jewellery with fresh, natural makeup and this crisp summer look is complete.

POPS OF COLOUR

From block colour pieces such as the vibrant ISLA Light Ray Dress featured to a brightly coloured nail or pop of colour lipstick such as ModelCo Disco Fever Tangerine this summer I'm having fun with accents of colour. The only rule is- the brighter the better!

I'm super excited to announce that I am now part of the TALULAH family. When I was asked to be the ISLA Ambassador I didn't have to think twice, I have always adored TALULAH and am even more in love with the new brand ISLA. The colours, bold prints and mix of feminine but edgy styles instantly grabbed me.

I have been the blogger behind Substance for three years now and I focus my posts a lot on my lifestyle and love for fashion, all shot by my fiance Jonathan. Spreading my time between Sydney and The Central Coast and being a model and blogger I get the best of both city and beach lifestyle. I love everything about the ocean, sand and the beach and enjoy being active. My style is not something I can define easily, some days I love wearing jeans, sneakers and a graphic tee and other days I will love being dressed up in a feminine number. That's what I love about fashion - there are no rules, thus you can just have fun and your style can be constantly evolving!

We shot the new ISLA Cruise 13 Collection by the sea as we thought It reflected my lifestyle and this vibrant collection perfectly. TALULAH is based in Byron Bay so if many ways shares a similar lifestyle to my own, which made it easy to capture the essence of the collection. Working in such a natural setting we decided to keep the makeup also quite natural so I worked with ModelCo make up artists who added lightly bronzed eyes and a fresh pop of colour on the lips. I had so much fun working on this shoot and adore all the ISLA pieces featured, especially the bright yellow playsuit. My absolute favourite for summer!

HORIZONS | REPOSTED FROM K IS FOR KANI BLOG

What an extremely warm start to Summer 2014. I thought I’d do a special post to ring in the season with this billowing maxi dress from Australian designer Talulah. A head to toe printed dress doesn’t really need much in terms of accessories and this botanical watercolour print really speaks for itself. Its easy breezy slit front makes walking through the sand a trip-free task and the best part about it? It has pockets :-)

With this warmer weather I have been so inspired to clean and organise. I’ve finally had the time to start doing some decorating. Yesterday we made the trip to IKEA to get some photo frames for some absolutely gorgeous limited run Jennifer Madden illustration prints I just received shipped all the way from Arte Limited in Italy. They’re the first pieces of art to join me in our new place and I am so excited to finally have something to brighten up my bare walls. Every time I walk past the hall way where they are hanging I can’t help but stop and stare at them for a while. I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up like those crazy print collectors with not a plain white wall in sight one day.. if only I had the endless hallways and galleries to support such a hobby.

 

KELLI'S BYRON BAY SUMMER SECRETS

 

Every day I am in awe at how incredibly lucky I am to be living in such a beautiful place like Byron Bay, especially during the summer months when the town really comes alive!

My perfect summer day in Byron Bay would include- spending the morning strolling the local farmers market to buy fresh flowers, fruit & veggies and a delicious fruit smoothie; Walking down to a hidden beach. My favourites include Whites & Brays, these are by far the most beautiful beaches in Byron Bay; Lunch at the Road House Cafe. The fish taco's are divine! Wash off in one of the many waterfalls located in the Byron Bay Hinterland and back to watch the sunset with a cocktail in hand at the Byron at Byron Resort.

When designing the TALULAH Cruise 13 Runaway Lover Collection I was inspired by a dreamy holiday lifestyle. Luxurious silk maxi's mingling amidst markets and sunset soirees, playful playsuits sipping cocktails by the poolside and statement separates meandering upon sun drenched sands. I draw much inspiration from my beautiful Byron Bay home and just couldn't resist sharing my favourite things about this magnificent place with you.
